Frequently Asked
Questions

Answers to the most common questions about SatRyn, self-custody, multisig, and Bitcoin wallet management.

What is self-custody?
Self-custody means you hold your own private keys. No third party can access, freeze, or seize your Bitcoin. With SatRyn, your keys are generated on your device, encrypted with AES-256, and stored in the iOS Keychain — never on a server.
What if I lose my device?
If you have your seed phrase or an encrypted backup, you can restore your wallet on a new device. SatRyn supports automatic daily encrypted backups to iCloud and manual backup exports. Always store your seed phrase in a secure, offline location.
What is a multisig vault?
A multi-signature vault requires multiple keys to authorize a transaction. For example, 2-of-3 means two out of three keyholders must sign before any Bitcoin can be moved. This provides enhanced security and is ideal for families, groups, or anyone wanting an extra layer of protection.
How do I set up a multisig?
Create a new vault in SatRyn, choose your m-of-n configuration (such as 2-of-3 or 3-of-5), and add cosigners from hardware wallets or other apps. SatRyn uses BIP48 derivation paths and BIP174 PSBTs for full interoperability with other multisig-capable wallets.
Can I connect my own node?
Yes, SatRyn supports connecting to your own Electrum server for maximum privacy. By running your own node, your address queries and transaction broadcasts never pass through a third-party server. Configure your server URL in the app settings.
What address formats are supported?
SatRyn supports all four Bitcoin address formats: Taproot (bc1p…), Native SegWit (bc1q…), Wrapped SegWit (3…), and Legacy (1…). Taproot is the default for new wallets, offering the best privacy and lowest fees.
Is SatRyn open source?
Yes, fully open source. Inspect every line of code on GitHub. SatRyn is built on bitcoinjs-lib with the secp256k1 elliptic curve library. No proprietary code, no black boxes, no hidden backends.
What BIPs does SatRyn support?
SatRyn implements BIP39 (mnemonic seed phrases), BIP32 (hierarchical deterministic wallets), BIP44 (Legacy), BIP49 (Wrapped SegWit), BIP84 (Native SegWit), BIP86 (Taproot), BIP48 (multisig derivation), BIP125 (Replace-by-Fee), and BIP174 (Partially Signed Bitcoin Transactions).
