Your privacy is fundamental to everything we build.
Effective Date: February 14, 2026 | Last Updated: February 14, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how SatRyn ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the SatRyn mobile application (the "App"). SatRyn is a self-custody Bitcoin wallet. We are committed to protecting your privacy and have designed the App to operate with minimal data processing. This policy applies to all users worldwide, regardless of location.
SatRyn is built with privacy as a foundational design principle. We believe financial privacy is a fundamental human right. The App is engineered so that we cannot access, view, or process your personal data, financial information, or wallet activity.
No analytics. No telemetry. No third-party tracking. No advertising identifiers. SatRyn does not monitor what you do, where you go, or how you use the App. Period.
SatRyn is designed to operate without collecting, processing, or storing any personal data. Specifically, we do not collect:
We operate no backend servers, databases, or cloud infrastructure that stores user data. There is no user data to store.
All data generated by SatRyn resides exclusively on your device. This includes:
You retain full control over this data at all times. Deleting the App removes all locally stored data from your device.
If you choose to enable iCloud backups, your wallet data is encrypted on your device before transmission using AES-256-GCM with a password that you set. The encrypted backup is stored in your personal Apple iCloud account.
SatRyn cannot access, read, decrypt, or modify your iCloud backup data. Without your backup password, the data is cryptographically unreadable — by us, by Apple, or by any third party.
iCloud backups are entirely optional. You may also export encrypted backups as local files that you manage independently. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
SatRyn connects to Electrum protocol servers to query blockchain data (transaction history, balance information, fee estimates, and transaction broadcasting). These connections are necessary for the wallet to function.
For users requiring the highest level of network privacy, we recommend running your own Electrum server (such as Electrs, Fulcrum, or ElectrumX) and connecting SatRyn directly to it. This ensures that your address queries and transaction broadcasts never pass through any third-party infrastructure.
SatRyn also connects to public exchange rate APIs to display fiat currency conversion. These requests contain no user-identifying information.
SatRyn does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or data-processing services. The App contains:
The App's source code is fully open source and can be independently verified to confirm the absence of third-party tracking code.
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and Switzerland: Because SatRyn does not collect or process personal data, the data processing provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 ("GDPR") and the UK General Data Protection Regulation ("UK GDPR") are not directly applicable to the App's operation.
To the extent any incidental processing occurs (for example, network connections to Electrum servers that may temporarily expose IP addresses to the server operator), the legal basis would be:
We do not rely on consent as a legal basis for processing because we do not collect personal data.
We respect the privacy rights granted by applicable laws worldwide. Because SatRyn does not collect, store, or process personal data, most data subject rights are satisfied by design. Nevertheless, we acknowledge the following rights:
If you are located in the EEA or UK, you have the right to: access your personal data; rectification of inaccurate data; erasure ("right to be forgotten"); restriction of processing; data portability; object to processing; and not be subject to automated decision-making. Since we hold no personal data, these rights are inherently fulfilled. If you wish to exercise any right or have questions, please contact us.
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), grants you the right to: know what personal information is collected; delete personal information; opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; and non-discrimination for exercising your rights. SatRyn does not sell, share, or disclose personal information. We do not collect personal information as defined under the CCPA/CPRA. There is no information to access, delete, or opt out of.
SatRyn respects the privacy rights under all applicable U.S. state privacy laws, including but not limited to the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA), Colorado Privacy Act (CPA), Connecticut Data Privacy Act (CTDPA), Utah Consumer Privacy Act (UCPA), Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA), Oregon Consumer Privacy Act (OCPA), and Montana Consumer Data Privacy Act (MCDPA). Since SatRyn does not collect personal data, these laws' requirements are satisfied by design.
For users in Canada, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and substantially similar provincial legislation (e.g., Quebec's Law 25, Alberta's PIPA, British Columbia's PIPA) grant rights regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information. SatRyn does not collect personal information as defined under PIPEDA.
For users in Brazil, the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD) grants rights including: confirmation of data processing; access to data; correction of incomplete or inaccurate data; anonymization, blocking, or deletion; data portability; and information about third parties with whom data is shared. Since SatRyn does not process personal data, these rights are inherently satisfied.
For users in the Russian Federation, Federal Law No. 152-FZ "On Personal Data" regulates the processing of personal data. SatRyn does not collect, process, or store personal data of Russian users. No personal data is transferred cross-border by SatRyn. All wallet data remains exclusively on the user's device.
For users in Australia, the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) regulate the handling of personal information. SatRyn does not collect personal information as defined under the Privacy Act. No data is transferred to overseas recipients by SatRyn.
For users in Japan, the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) governs the handling of personal information. SatRyn does not acquire, use, or provide personal information to third parties as defined under the APPI.
For users in South Korea, the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) governs data processing. SatRyn does not collect or process personal information as defined under PIPA.
SatRyn is designed to comply with privacy laws globally. Regardless of your jurisdiction, our approach is consistent: we do not collect, process, or store your personal data. If you have questions about how SatRyn complies with your local privacy laws, please contact us.
SatRyn does not transfer personal data across international borders because we do not collect personal data. All wallet data remains on your device. If you enable iCloud backups, the transfer and storage of encrypted backup data is governed by Apple's policies and your Apple ID account settings.
Since SatRyn does not collect personal data on any server or cloud infrastructure, there is no data retention period to disclose. Data stored locally on your device persists until you delete the App or manually clear the data. Encrypted iCloud backups persist in your iCloud account until you delete them.
We implement the following security measures to protect data stored locally on your device:
SatRyn is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Since the App collects no personal data from any user, we are in compliance with:
SatRyn involves real financial transactions and is intended for users aged 16 and older. If you believe a child under 16 is using SatRyn inappropriately, please contact us.
SatRyn is fully open source. You do not need to take our word for any claim in this Privacy Policy — you can verify everything yourself by inspecting the source code.
The complete codebase is available at our GitHub repository. Security researchers, privacy advocates, developers, and users are encouraged to audit the code and report any concerns through our contact page or via GitHub Issues.
SatRyn does not track users in any way. The App honors Do Not Track (DNT) signals by default because no tracking occurs regardless of browser or device settings. We do not respond differently to DNT signals because our baseline behavior is already zero tracking.
The SatRyn App does not use cookies, web beacons, tracking pixels, local storage tokens, or similar tracking technologies. The SatRyn website (satryn.com) does not use any cookies for analytics or advertising. Any essential cookies used for basic website functionality do not track or identify individual users.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in applicable law, our practices, or for other operational reasons. When we make changes:
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of SatRyn after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Given that SatRyn does not process personal data, the appointment of a Data Protection Officer (DPO) is not required under GDPR Article 37 or equivalent legislation. However, for any privacy-related inquiries, you may contact us through the channels listed below.
If you are located in the EEA or UK and believe that your data protection rights have not been adequately addressed, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. A list of EEA supervisory authorities is available at edpb.europa.eu. For UK residents, the supervisory authority is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or SatRyn's privacy practices, please contact us:
We will respond to all privacy-related inquiries within 30 days, or within the timeframe required by applicable law, whichever is shorter.
